Women and Peace

UN Women Pakistan provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Human Rights in the development and implementation of a pilot on gender and peace keeping in Pakistan. The operational objectives of the programme are to respond to the immediate needs of women and girls in emergencies and to provide technical support. This programme has various inter linked sub components. Depending on the level of intervention different strategies apply. At the grassroots level UN Women Pakistan supports civil society organisations and women rights groups through the implementation of a Trust Fund which responds to gender dimensions of humanitarian and crisis. Women centers and women facilitation spaces have been set up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab to provide psycho social help, skill building activities and gender sensitive rehabilitation support services to women and girls. In addition UN Women Pakistan supports in implementation by actively advocating policy and the capacity building of civil society organisations, parliamentarians and other key line ministries
