Event description

The EGM provides an opportunity for UN Women regional and country teams to interact with experts and development partners in the field on how to support the states in Asia Pacific in developing macroeconomic policies, building upon good practices and lessons learned from past experience on how gender‐responsive macroeconomic policies have helped empower women. The EGM will help UN Women identify entry points for work on gender and macroeconomics.

To facilitate a better understanding of the linkages between macroeconomic policies and women’s rights and gender equality, UN Women has commissioned a research study on Gender and Macroeconomics in three selected countries in Asia Pacific region, namely Bangladesh, Philippines and Solomon Islands. The outcomes of the research will be shared at this EGM.

Participants:

UN Agencies UNESCAP, UNDP, FAO, ILO and UNWOMEN
International and regional institutions: the World Bank, The Asian Development Bank, Asia Foundation, FES Foundation
Regional experts, including strategic civil society partners specializing on issues of women’s economic empowerment and gender justice.
