Event description
World is changing, so does the role of women in every field of life. They are directly and indirectly contributing through their hard work and commitment, and inspiring thousand others. As International Women Day being celebrated every year with an aim to promote women's rights, equality, justice and recognize the efforts of women from all walks of life and backgrounds. Furthermore, to empower and recognize the efforts of women in all settings and celebrate the hard work of those individuals who are regularly campaigning to claim women's rights and realize their full potential. For this IWD, it will also give an opportunity to recognize the role of our female youth volunteers and female community members of their areas who are working and contributing towards the change in their families and their respective communities.
IWD (2018) and Community Radio
UN Women and UNV's Community Radio project volunteers will be involved on this IWD, 2017, especially the female volunteers who are associated with this project for almost a year now. This International Women day will also focus on the importance of volunteerism and how volunteers (female volunteers in particular) can share the achievements as well as the problems they have to face at community level. On this IWD the work produced in the form of audio slots and video by the female volunteers will be showcased with other participants and their efforts will be recognized and promoted for further encouragement. The 4th Annual Ring the Bell for Gender Equality Ceremony
UN Women Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan Stock Exchange and Women on Boards has planned a Ring the Bell ceremony on 8th March, 2018 in Karachi from 9 am to 1 pm.
