Bangkok, Thailand — National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Society, Children, Women, the Disabled and Marginalized Groups of Thailand today organized the High-level Seminar under the theme "Zero Violence Society" showing their solidarity in ending the world's worst pandemic.

The event is a part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign (25 November - 10 December) commemorated by the UN under the umbrella of the Secretary-General's campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women. This year's theme is "Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls", in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It emphasizes the importance of reaching the most marginalized, including adolescents and the elderly, indigenous women and women affected by conflict and natural disaster, first.

The campaign targets government agencies, women's groups, international organisations, students and media across the country to build a common understanding on domestic violence and violence against women and to address challenges and recommendations to eliminate such violence and to take action.

Mr. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly, while delivering opening remarks highlighted that eliminating domestic violence and violence against women was the national agenda: "Working towards ending violence against women and public awareness on gender equality would potentially shift social norms and attitudes on gender perspectives in the male-dominated society" where male-dominant influence remains.
