Exclusive Media Briefing on UN Women Executive Director's Visit to Bangladesh

United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is visiting Bangladesh for the first time, since the creation of UN Women in 2010. Her visit will be an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration in Bangladesh between national partners, civil society and UN Women, to address the challenges and opportunities that will effectively transform the lives of women and girls.

To this effect the Executive Director's Mission agenda will include engagement with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina; Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali‎; State Minister for Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Ms. Meher Afroze Chumki; key Government officials and civil society partners as well as international development actors both in Dhaka and in Cox's Bazar where humanitarian response to the Rohingya Refugee crisis is taking place.

Programme:

The event will be inaugurated by UN Women Country Representative in Bangladesh, Shoko Ishikawa. Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka will share her key observations and experiences from her meetings and travel in Bangladesh, and will engage in a Q&A session with media representatives. UN Women Asia-Pacific Chief of Section A.H.Monjurul Kabir will also be present.
