Asia-Pacific Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2018

“Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”
In commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2018, an interactive dialogue on this year’s theme ‘Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives’ will be held on Thursday, 8 March 2018 in Bangkok. IWD 2018 will focus on advancing women’s voices, participation and leadership towards the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women in rural and urban settings.
Organized by the UN Asia-Pacific Regional Coordination Mechanism's Thematic Working Group on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (RCM TWG-GEEW), and co-chaired by ESCAP and UN Women, the event will feature a panel discussion on the key challenges, gaps and opportunities to promoting gender equality for women living in rural and urban areas across Asia and the Pacific.
The regional commemoration will be held at the UN Conference Centre, with participation from UN agencies and the diplomatic community, along with representatives of government, international organizations, civil society organizations and youth groups.
