Since 2014, the European Union (EU) has contributed USD 4.2m of non-core funding in support of UN Women’s programming in Asia and the Pacific. In addition to the continuous support for UN Women’s activities in the Pacific, the EU has also supported our work in Southeast Asia – focusing mainly on ending violence against women, migration, and leadership and political participation. In addition, UN Women started implementing the Safe and Fair programme together with ILO in 2018 focusing on women migrant workers, violence and trafficking. The programme is part of the global, multi-year Spotlight Initiative funded by the EU.
