This qualitative study examines the links between masculinity, gender, and domestic violence. It is based on a review of existing information from government and non-government bodies, as well as regional and international sources. The field study was conducted in two rural provinces of Cambodia and in the capital, Phnom Penh. The main research methodology included focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with married respondents who were both male and female, perpetrators and non-perpetrators of spousal violence, victims and nonvictims of familial abuse. This publication was produced under the UN Joint Programme Partners for Prevention (2008-2017) implemented by UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, and UNV, with support from Australia.
