Earthquakes in eastern and northern Afghanistan
UN Women Humanitarian Update
Gender responsive humanitarian action reporting period: 1 September – 15 November 2025
Women and girls continue to be the most affected by the recent earthquakes in eastern and northern Afghanistan, and face challenges in accessing WASH and health facilities.
UN Women has reached more than 21,000 people with humanitarian assistance, including 16,000 women and girls, in earthquake-affected areas of eastern Afghanistan.
UN Women still needs urgent funding to continue supporting Afghan women and girls to rebuild their lives after the earthquakes. Out of the USD 3.5 million requested in its first appeal, UN Women has received USD 1 million through the Swiss Development Cooperation and the Women, Peace and Humanitarian Fund.
However, USD 2.5 million is still needed to reach 30,000 people - primarily women and girls.
