UN Women, in collaboration with Cartoon People, Bonhishikha – Unlearn Gender, and Maa Er Doa Studio, with support from the Government of Canada, organized “Cartoons for Equality,” an exhibition that used art and visual storytelling to address violence against women and girls in Bangladesh. Over 200 cartoons curated through a month-long campaign were showcased during a 10-day festival, alongside theatre performances and dialogue sessions designed to spark a cultural shift toward equality and respect. At the close of the exhibition, a book was launched compiling all the cartoons, each capturing powerful messages on discriminatory social norms and violence against women in public, private, and online spaces.
