A practical resource developed by UN Women in partnership with Thinkthrough Consulting. The handbook provides a step-by-step framework for government officials, civil society organizations, and community groups to plan, implement, and monitor gender safety audits (GSAs) in public spaces, workplaces, educational institutions, and online platforms. Emphasizing participatory, survivor-centric, and intersectional approaches, the guidebook includes templates, checklists, and protocols for rapid situation analysis, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and safety walks. Its aim is to help stakeholders identify and address gender-based vulnerabilities, promote community engagement, and drive evidence-based interventions that enhance women’s safety, gender equality, and empowerment across diverse settings in India.
