Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most systematic, widespread human rights violations worldwide. In Bangladesh, VAWG remains common despite progress on normative and policy frameworks. Bangladesh has adopted several laws, policies, and plans to address VAWG, including a National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women and Children (2018-2030) and a National Action Plan to End Child Marriage (2018-2030). Notably, the Evidence (Amendment) Act was passed in 2022, preventing cross-examination of the character of rape survivors in court trials. As such, the advocacy messages have been developed by LCG WAGE for common messaging and advocacy on VAWG with various stakeholders.
