Guidance Note: Gender-Responsive Analysis Framework on Climate-Induced Mobility
Climate change has increasingly become a direct and indirect driving force behind mobility, causing or compounding complex humanitarian crises that already disproportionately affect women and girls in all their diversity. The consequences extend beyond those who are displaced; they also profoundly impact those who are left behind, either because they are unable or unwilling to move. Those who remain continue to experience the conditions that drove others to displace along with the burden of increased responsibilities and increased exposure to heightened risks as social and economic structures become strained.
This gender-responsive analysis framework aims to provide a structured approach to analyzing the gendered impacts of climate-induced mobility on women and girls in all their diversity who are unable to move due to different reasons. It seeks to help humanitarian and development actors, researchers, and policymakers identify the specific needs, vulnerabilities, and resilience capacities of these communities to develop targeted humanitarian, early recovery, and development interventions.
