The Project Empowering women for sustainable peace: preventing violence and promoting social cohesion in the ASEAN aims to support ASEAN in advancing the implementation of the WPS agenda, including preventing violence against women and promoting social cohesion in the region. This report is a simplified and infographic version of the annual donor report 2021.

The pandemic highlighted the immense challenges that women face in their health, safety and livelihoods. Many women, especially those in vulnerable communities, have lost a generation’s worth of economic gains. With the increase in gender-based violence and the reversal of decades of advancement for women in the workplace, we have reached an inflection point for gender equality.

The brief showcases the contributions of UN Women Viet Nam in supporting and working with the Government of Viet Nam, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Viet Nam. The brief is meant to be accessible to any reader by providing an introduction to UN Women and what we do; by sharing the about impact on 4 areas of our work: Policy Advocacy, Programmes, Coordination, and Outreach.

This publication presents highlights of results achieved under the regional project, “Stepping Up Solutions to Eliminate Violence against Women and Girls in Asia and the Pacific”. The project literally stepped up solutions by bringing together a wealth of evidence, knowledge and innovative approaches those involved in ending VAWG for good. The project united men and boys, teachers and students in schools and universities, local, national and regional governments.

Country Gender Equality Profile Viet Nam 2021 (CGEP) is a comprehensive report, in-depth analysis and focus on gender equality issues based on available evidence, data and research. The main objective of the CGEP for Viet Nam 2021 is to serve as a primary source of evidence to drive the prioritization of financing, programming and advocacy to advance gains and overcome bottlenecks to gender equality in Viet Nam.

The ASEAN Regional Framework on Protection, Gender, and Inclusion in Disaster Management 2021-2025 (ARF-PGI) aims to articulate a common vision for promoting PGI in disaster management in the ASEAN region, in line with One ASEAN One Response. Gender statistics in Viet Nam 2020 is a joint publication compiled and developed by General Statistic Office (GSO), Viet Nam Women’s Union and UN Women Viet Nam. The report provides information and statistics for readers to understand the existing gender relations and gender gaps in society. It also presents gender statistics in 2018 according to various topics, such as: Population, family, education, health, labour and employment, and leadership and management.

UN Women and the Rockcheck Puji Foundation are committed to upholding women’s rights and their leadership potential in pandemic preparedness, response and recovery. In May 2020 UN Women China, funded by the Rockcheck Puji Foundation, launched Supporting women to recover from the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19, a project that focused on women entrepreneurs, workers and women-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Government of Nepal has demonstrated through progressive policy measures a strong commitment to advance Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) issues and has centre staged GESI principles in public policies and budget processes. Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) was endorsed as an important strategy to promote GESI principles in national plans and budgets. On 29 May 2021 the Government of Nepal presented NPR 1.647 trillion budget for the Fiscal Year 2078/2079 (2021/2022).

A time-use survey has not previously been conducted in Afghanistan. As a result, there are data gaps on the contribution to human well-being by Afghan women through their unpaid cooking, cleaning and caring for family as well as their contribution to family businesses. Their work is statistically unrecognized despite the large amounts of women’s time that it consumes, and the restrictions it places on women’s ability to engage in other activities.

Case studies in this report provide entry points and lessons learned on how to adapt programming and integrate women and girls in the COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.

Backed by over five years of experience in leading the mainstreaming of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in all phases of disaster risk reduction, prevention and response, and in collaboration with government, civil society, United Nations (UN) agencies and development partners, UN Women put together its own COVID-19 Response Strategy for Nepal. Braced for the long haul, UN Women approached the COVID-19 humanitarian crisis with a development perspective, glued to the twin focus of responding to the people’s immediate needs while pushing gender equality in the short and long-term responses to the pandemic.

The 2018-2019 Annual Report highlights progress made around the Asia Pacific Region to make the vision of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls. UN Women stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on five priority areas: increasing women’s leadership and participation; ending violence against women; engaging women in all aspects of peace and security processes; enhancing women's economic empowerment.

It offers a snapshot of the impact the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 on grantees and the populations they serve, and the ways they are responding to it. Finally, it presents the results from its latest efforts to accelerate progress by fostering innovation and peer learning.

This report tells UN Women’s story over the period 2019–2020. It shares how we and our many partners are striding forward to realize a better world for women and girls—one of equality and empowerment. Looking forward, we will draw on our full resources and experiences in protecting and advancing the rights of all women and girls. That is what we do and who we are, as a leader, mobilizer, convenor, provider of programmes, and partner for change.

The 2019 Annual Report of the United Nations in China highlights results and impacts in the following priority areas; poverty reduction and equitable development, improved and sustainable environment, enhanced global engagement with an emphasis on cross-cutting areas such as gender equality, and leaving no one behind.

This Rapid Gender Analysis looks at identifying the impacts of cyclone Amphan based on the socio-economic condition and geographical locations of affected populations, which would provide the foundation for Amphan response planning.

This alert focuses on a pillar of the women, peace and security agenda of particular relevance in Afghanistan today – participation. Specifically, the alert engages stakeholders on how to collectively ensure women’s meaningful participation in an intra-Afghan peace process.
