This brief was developed with an aim to capture the experiences and lessons learned from piloting gender responsive budgeting (GRB) initiatives in Bac Giang in 2018 and 2019. It presents the positive changes made and challenges encountered during the processes of the implementation and make proposals on how to promote GRB practices in socio-economic development programmes in the community going forward.

The Baseline Assessment Report - The Joint Program on Essential Services Package (ESP) for Women and Girls subject to Violence in Viet Nam was carried out to evaluate the knowledge and understandings of central and local governments as well as women and girls of the existing gender-based violence situations. Furthermore, the report identifies the factors for an enabling environment of ESP implementation and the gaps in current services (in the health, justice and police, social sectors and in the coordination mechanism and governance). It further helps identify needs, the existing capacity to meet those needs, unmet needs, and to establish goals and objectives for meeting the unmet needs.

This publication was developed out of the context of a new State Budget Law approved in 2015 which offered new and advanced articles of law from a gender perspective. The guidelines outlined in this Document aim to provide a basic knowledge of gender, gender equality and GRB and thus, offer skills with which to apply gender equality principles in budget monitoring and decisions of the People’s Council to conform to State Budget Law (2015).

This study, the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, seeks to analyze how the varying criminal justice systems in Thailand and Viet Nam respond to reported cases of rape and sexual assault, and to identify the key institutional factors associated with the disposition of cases in these countries. A Regional Study of Interventions to Enhance Women and Girls’ Safety and Mobility in Public Spaces, Asia and the Pacific Region In public and private spaces, women and girls experience and fear various types of violence, ranging from harassment, to rape and femicide. Momentum is growing around the issue of women and girls’ safety in urban, public spaces. However, given that this is a relatively new field of work, published evidence of the impacts of such interventions remain.

The study provides an overview of the policy context of international labor migration, gender equality concerns, and analyzes the trends in Vietnamese women’s participation in overseas labor migration, their destinations and occupations, draws on overseas contract employment data provided by DOLAB. The study develops recommendations on designing and implementing gender-responsive policies and suggests role of government agencies and other organization during migration process.
