Based on the principles of respect and equality, and lessons learned from evidence-based results on what works in preventing violence from occurring and recurring, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN Women, in collaboration with ten other UN, bilateral, and multilateral agencies, have developed “RESPECT Women: Preventing violence against women”. This publication provides a comprehensive framework to inform policy makers and implementers about designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating interventions and programmes on preventing and responding to violence against women.

The journey of women migrant workers begins in the village. Most of them come from the village, and it is an entry and exit point wherein information on overseas employment opportunities and requirements can be obtained. UN Women, in partnership with Kalyanamitra initiated "Strengthening the Capacity of village and Migrant Communities to Prevent and Respond to Violence against Women Migrant Workers and Trafficking" project in 2020-2022. The story of change from the villages is captured in this book to inspire everyone, including small village communities, that they can play their part in ending gender-based violence and trafficking.

The photo story book “From Where I stand” is a tribute to the gender equality champions who made exemplary efforts in reducing risks and shaping a sustainable future. It is an initiative under the National Resilience Programme (NRP) with the Government of Bangladesh to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in national disaster risk reduction policies and practices. The programme is supported by the Government of Sweden and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The Gender Marker Toolkit, under the National Resilience Program (NRP), has been designed to strengthen and develop the gender work of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) which already has a Gender Equity Strategy and Action Plan and an active Gender Forum. The Toolkit aims to raise awareness, understanding, and skills in ensuring gender responsiveness throughout all project stages and for all asset types that the Bangladesh Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) works on. It also aims to strengthen LGED’s influencer role with other Ministries and Departments.

This report explores the barriers women face in the Pacific to entering the energy workforce, completing energy-related education, and accessing different forms of clean energy. It looks at the potential benefits that the use of clean and sustainable energy could bring across the region, and presents new gender data and analytical insights to assess challenges and opportunities for a Pacific shift to sustainable and clean energy use.

UN Women Indonesia rolled out the project from June 2020 through May 2021. At the end of the project, 610 women benefited from the cash-based interventions, 100 women received advocacy and leadership training, and more than 100 individuals received knowledge on coordinated quality services to better support and empower women's migrant workers. In addition, 11 women’s crisis centers and shelters across the country were supported to ensure that services for women’s survivors of violence could continue during the pandemic.

This glossary serves as a guide for journalists, researchers, trainers and other stakeholders who conduct trainings or write about women’s labour migration, and who write about violence against women in the context of migration. Language used in different communication materials and trainings puts forward specific positions and impressions, including at times perpetuating stereotypes. For women in Indonesia and indeed around the world, starting or running a business is never easy. Limited access to skills development, barriers to securing financial capital to set up or grow their businesses, accessing business networks often dominated by men, are all challenges due to discriminatory and cultural norms.

This report includes an assessment of the extent to which progress towards the targets of the Sendai Framework has been gender-responsive and disability-inclusive. The guiding research question for the assessment is as follows: how do selected countries in the Asia-Pacific region identify and address diverse needs of disadvantaged groups, characterized by sex, age, and disability, in the context of DRR?

Addressing gender mainstreaming receives renewed attention with the mandate of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework adopted by the UN as post-2015 development agenda which consists of 17 Goals and 169 strategies for implementation. In addition to training women to support income generation and leadership, the AWEE Programme also engaged with stakeholders such as national and sub-national governments, the private sector, civil society and communities to address discriminatory social norms and harmful practices. [Stories of Rohingya women seeking refuge in Cox’s Bazar] Since late August 2017, more than 715,000 Rohingya’s have fled Burma’s Rakhine State to escape the military’s large-scale campaign of ethnic cleansing. UN Women Bangladesh, through the development of this photo book, documents the resilience and transformation of Rohingya women in the crisis response in Cox’s Bazar, along with human interest stories that demonstrate strength, agency and leadership.

To strengthens capacities of class II and class III officers of the federal government, a manual on Gender Equality Social Inclusion (GESI) and Gender Responsive Budget (GRB) was developed by Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC) in collaboration with, and with technical support from, UN Women. The manual is the first of its kind, as it brings together two distinct concepts of GRB and GESI and demonstrates how GRB can be used as a tool for advancing GESI.
