This brief provides an evidence-based analysis of recent trends in online hate speech. Focused on Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, this brief analyses misogynistic hate speech which has occurred in the context of increasing polarization, shrinking democratic space and the ongoing gendered impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The photo story book “From Where I stand” is a tribute to the gender equality champions who made exemplary efforts in reducing risks and shaping a sustainable future. It is an initiative under the National Resilience Programme (NRP) with the Government of Bangladesh to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in national disaster risk reduction policies and practices. The programme is supported by the Government of Sweden and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

This Brief is a situation analysis of gender equality in Bangladesh. The report aims to strengthen country-driven processes by presenting more evidence of the links between gender equality and climate change in the priority sectors of crop agriculture, water resource management, forestry, and renewable energy.

The RGA includes the key impacts and emerging issues of access to shelter, safety, security and protection food and income, reproductive health services and WASH facilities keeping women and most marginalized community in consideration. The report also puts forward some immediate and long-term key recommendations.

The National Resilience Programme aimed to sustain the resilience of human and economic development in Bangladesh through inclusive, gender-responsive disaster management and risk-informed development. Sabiha is a student of the UN Women – DanChurchAid (DCA) Second Chance Education Learning Programme being implemented in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. UN Women with its implementing partner DCA has been implementing the Second Chance Education Learning Programme in the Rohingya Refugee camp and host community in Cox’s Bazar to support women and adolescent girls through a learning programme to enhance their self-reliance and empowerment.

This brief will help stakeholders formulate workable strategies to develop gender-responsive plans, projects and programmes at the local or national level and to allocate the necessary budgets for the effective implementation of those strategies.

Funded by the Swedish International Development Agency, the EmPower project aims to contribute to the implementation of climate change and disaster risk reduction actions in Asia and the Pacific that address the key drivers of gender-based vulnerabilities while enhancing human rights.

UN Women and UNDP have piloted a training programme on Non-Violent Communication – a method which has found success in international mediation and conflict resolution settings – in Bangladesh, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The project was generously supported by the Government of Australia and the European Union. ‘State of Gender Equality and Climate Change in Bangladesh’ policy brief is based on the assessment report for Bangladesh and presents the essential findings and recommendations for policy actors to promote gender equality in climate action. It aims to strengthen country-driven processes by presenting evidence on the linkages between gender equality and climate change. It analyses the gendered impacts of climate change and the gender gaps in sectoral policies.

The Gender Marker Toolkit, under the National Resilience Program (NRP), has been designed to strengthen and develop the gender work of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) which already has a Gender Equity Strategy and Action Plan and an active Gender Forum. The Toolkit aims to raise awareness, understanding, and skills in ensuring gender responsiveness throughout all project stages and for all asset types that the Bangladesh Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) works on. It also aims to strengthen LGED’s influencer role with other Ministries and Departments.
