Nadi, Fiji - Over 30 women leaders, youth advocates, parliamentarians and gender equality champions from across the Pacific are convening in Nadi for a two-day dialogue aimed at advancing women’s political participation across generations.

The WYDE | Women’s Leadership Regional Intergenerational Dialogue – Waves of Change: Pacific Women in Politics Across Generations – is hosted by UN Women as part of the WYDE | Women’s Leadership initiative, funded by the European Union.

The dialogue creates an inclusive space for reflection, storytelling and strategy—drawing from three decades of gender equality advocacy while amplifying the energy and vision of youth leaders across the region.

Key Highlights

Reflections on the 30-year legacy of the Beijing Platform for Action and the Pacific Platform for Action.
Panel discussions on legal and social barriers to women’s political participation.
Intergenerational mentoring between young leaders and seasoned parliamentarians.
Breakout sessions addressing gender-based violence in politics, social norm change, and inclusive governance.
Youth-led conversations on engaging men and masculinities in promoting gender equality.

WYDE | Women’s Leadership is a global initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by UN Women, International IDEA, Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). The initiative seeks to advance women’s full and effective political participation, particularly among those most often left behind.

This convening is the second in a global series of regional dialogues that aim to build momentum for gender-equal political ecosystems.
