Afghan President joins International Women’s Day celebrations

This year, International Women’s Day in Afghanistan was celebrated on Thursday 5th of March in Kabul. Under the theme “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity” hundreds of women and men including Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan, and Bibi Gul Ghani, the First Lady, attended the event to mark the Day.
UN Women partnered with the Afghan Ministry of Women’s Affairs in organizing the event along with other agencies. In addition, UN Women has sponsored various TV spots on women issues to be aired on national television during March.
