Celebrating the achievements and learning the lessons from a landmark joint United Nations programme for Asia and the Pacific

Where: Holiday Inn, 981 Silom Road, Khwaeng Silom, Khet Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

What:

Partners for Prevention (P4P) is a regional joint programme bringing together the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme for the prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Asia and the Pacific. Interventions were implemented in five countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Viet Nam) with a focus on primary prevention and the transformation of harmful masculinities. After 12 months, the interventions showed positive and promising results, prompting a change in social norms, an increase in gender equitable attitudes, a reduction in violence, and happier, more harmonious families and communities. As the programme draws to an end, P4P with its partner agencies wishes to share programme achievements and lessons with governments, development partners, programme experts, civil society organizations and researchers to discuss the way forward. The event is being supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
