UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, in collaboration with Mythos Labs, partnered with five actors and comedians from across Asia to produce a comedy video to promote solidarity, understanding and cohesion in communities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine measures.

The video entitled “The Famdemic” – starring Farhana Muna from Bangladesh, Naveen Richard from India, Harith Iskander from Malaysia, Haresh Tilani from Singapore, and Aerin Yuktadatta from Thailand – recounts a videocall from one family struggling to get along during quarantine.

Produced with the generous funding of the Government of Japan, the video is available with subtitles in Bengali, English, Malay, Thai languages.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has tested the strength and solidarity of communities in Asia and the Pacific which has seen an increase in hate speech, fake news, discrimination and stigma as a result of the virus’s quick spread. Women in the region have been at the frontlines, promoting solidarity in their communities and reminding us that we are stronger together. Watch the video here.
