UN Women WEPs Activator Malaysia Campaign & 1st Awareness Session

Date:

What: Companies in Malaysia committed to gender diversity are invited to register for UN Women’s newly launched awareness training programme in support of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).

From November 2020 to April 2021, the WEPs Awareness Training sessions will be held to further awareness about the Principles, identify participating companies’ strengths and gaps, and determine opportunities to improve their performance on gender equality through the WEPs Gender Gap Analysis Tool.

The first awareness session will be delivered virtually via Zoom and is offered on a complimentary basis. Following the awareness sessions, companies with active commitment to becoming WEPs signatories will be eligible to proceed to the next phase of signing the WEPs and joining the WEPs Implementation training sessions.

In September, UN Women and LeadWomen jointly announced their collaboration on the economic empowerment of women through the WEPs Activator Malaysia Campaign, which targets 300 leading companies in the country by September 2021. The Campaign consists of 3 phases:

  1. WEPs Awareness Training
  2. Joining the WEPs Community
  3. WEPs Implementation Training

The collaboration is run by UN Women’s WeEmpowerAsia programme, which is financially supported by the European Union. The programme supports companies in implementing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and a gender-inclusive business culture in seven countries in Asia, including Malaysia.
