Three out of five women have experienced a form of sexual harassment while commuting in Metro Manila, according to a new research, “Baseline Study on How safe are women in our city streets” commissioned by Quezon City local government and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UNWomen).

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) just concluded a workshop series to highlight women’s experiences of sexual harassment and violence in public places. In the recently concluded Safe Cities Scoping Study of UN Women, all women interviewed reported either being sexually harassed or knowing someone who has been harassed while walking in the city streets.
