16 Days of Activism 2025: End digital violence against all women and girls

Every year, from 25 November to 10 December, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence unites governments, civil society, young people and communities across the world to call for an end to violence against women and girls. In Asia and the Pacific, where digital access is rapidly expanding, this year’s theme: UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls, is a reminder that technology is reshaping both the risks and opportunities for gender equality.

Digital violence is now one of the fastest-growing forms of abuse in the region. Women and girls are targeted through image-based abuse, harassment, disinformation, deepfakes and online hate that silences their voices and restricts their participation in public life. These harms mirror offline inequalities and often escalate beyond the screen, affecting safety, well-being and daily life.

Ending digital violence requires collective efforts: stronger laws; safer platforms; better support for survivors; and the full engagement of communities, tech actors and policymakers.

Throughout the 16 Days, UN Women works with partners across Asia and the Pacific to highlight the right of every woman and girl to be safe – online and offline – and to ensure that prevention, protection and accountability guide national and regional action. The campaign also invites people everywhere to stand with survivors, challenge harmful narratives, and promote safe and inclusive digital spaces. Using the colour orange as a symbol of hope and solidarity, the region will come together to raise awareness and drive change.

Join us during the 16 Days to amplify voices, share evidence, spark dialogue and help build a digital world free from violence.
