Quotes

H.E. Mr Michel Parys, Ambassador of Belgium to Thailand, said: “Belgium is proud to help turn digital awareness into action. Sunday’s event shows how families can practise kindness online, recognise harmful behaviour and say no to digital violence. Through the safe play street, the emoji-guided bike ride and our family pledge wall, children and parents will learn simple steps that make online spaces safer and more respectful for everyone.”

Christine Arab, Regional Director, UN Women Asia and the Pacific, said: “ Strengthening digital awareness helps girls and women assert their rights, can help both boys and girls be safer, can identify manipulation and abuse, and can confidently engage online. This weekend’s community ride and family activities will help turn that awareness into everyday actions that families can use to confidently and safely engage online.”

Why this matters

Digital violence is real-world violence. Online abuse—including harassment, non-consensual content, misinformation, grooming, impersonation and doxxing—continues to rise globally. Children and young people often face these risks first. By transforming public spaces into learning spaces, the event promotes simple family actions that strengthen safety and kindness online.
