In 2015, United Nations member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The aim of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 is to provide justice for all by 2030.

Globally, 4.5 billion people are excluded from the physical, social, economic, and political protection provided by the law and its institutions. But how can we ensure justice for all when today we face a global justice gap that leaves two-thirds of the world’s population without access to justice? To close this gap, we need to rethink how to respond to justice needs.

The Regional Women’s Access to Justice strategy intends to explore and identify the avenues that address the growing gaps in the delivery of justice to all who need it, while ensuring to answer to the specific needs of women.

Currently consultation with justice experts, country teams and civil society organizations is underway. The publication will be launched later this year.
