Gender Net

The 30 for 2030 network and UN Women ROAP created a campaign to spread awareness on what an equal and inclusive tech world and cyberspace look like to young people in our region, and how technology and innovation can not only be deeply rooted in gender inequality at present but also be a solution to provide equal opportunities for women and girls in the future.

Members of the 30 for 2030 network came together and created feature articles, video shorts, innovative learning materials and more, sharing their knowledge on; what tech is like for girls and women in our region, social norms affecting girls’ and societies attitudes toward STEAM fields, feminist cyberspace, what a feminist AI could look like and much more.

The campaign aligns itself with the priority theme of the Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation on the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

CSW67

Our very own 30 for 2030 member, Ayesha Amin spoke at CSW67 on the importance of expanding tech access to girls and women in marginalised communities and how tech access has become a necessity. More specifically, a harsh truth she spoke to was that anyone who doesn't exist in the digital space, unfortunately, doesn't have access it in today's world. Lack of access to the digital world is increasing systematic inequalities between men and women at an alarming rate, especially girls and women who belong to socio-economically disadvantaged groups.

Women in Science

Historically, women and girls working in STEM have been relatively unknown and underrepresented. While they have overcome great obstacles to be pioneers and open doors for women in these fields, they received less credit than they should have.

In this regard, the UN Women and the 30 for 2030 Network have put the spotlight on these trailblazers from Asia and the Pacific who have shaped how we live today and who will inspire Generation Equality to thrive.
