Regional Consultation on the SDG Baseline Publication: Evidence-based Advocacy for Gender Equality and Localisation of SDGs in Asia and the Pacific

In partnership with ADB, UN Women’s coordination role helps to promote synergies within the UN system through the UN Regional Coordination Mechanisms, the Thematic Working Group on Gender and Statistics (co-chaired by UNESCAP and UN Women) as well as to reach out to key stakeholders through inter-governmental processes. With a unique coordination mandate, UN Women is well placed to play a strong role in promoting a coordinated and harmonised approach to enhancing gender statistics and evidence-based policy direction, including key measurements of progress towards gender equality vis-à-vis the SDG goals and targets at the regional and country levels.

Given the strategic partnerships of ADB and UN Women with the generous support of the Korean Women’s Development Institute (KWDI), this Regional Consultation will expand important partnerships and collaboration with other key stakeholders at the reginal and country levels...

아시아 개발은행과의 협력에 있어 UN 여성기구는 아태지역 내 소재한 UN기구들의 지역차원 업무조정 제도인 Regional Coordination Mechanism(RCM) 및 (UN아시아태평양 경제사회이사회와 공동 의장을 맏고 있는) 젠더와 통계에 대한 주제별 실무단(Thematic Working Group on Gender and Statistics)에서의 역할을 기반으로, UN차원의 노력에서 더 큰 시너지 효과를 창출하고, 나아가 정부간(inter-governmental) 여러 협력과정에 적극 참여하여 핵심 이해관계자들과의 관계를 강화하는데 기여할 것이다. 이러한 측면에서, UN 여성기구는 젠더 및 통계와 관련된 여러 이해관계의 조율을 주도함으로써 지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 내 양성평등 목표의 성과측정에 있어 보다 체계적이고 발전된 방안을 제시하고 성인지 통계의 활용을 국가적, 나아가 지역차원으로 확산하여 관련 정책적 방향을 선도하는데 있어 핵심적 역할을 할 것이다.

한국여성정책연구원(KWDI)의 지원을 기반으로, UN 여성기구와 아시아 개발은행은 전략적 협력자로서 이번 담화를 통해 개별국가뿐만 아니라 지역적 차원에서 핵심 이해관계자들과의 협력을 확대하고 새롭게 발간되는 기초선 자료의 실질적 활용에 기여할 계획이다...
