Two days national workshop for Lao stakeholders to understand and discuss the findings and recommendations of the Legislative Review

Additionally, legislative publications from other countries that include the Lao legislative review on GBV will be translated into Lao and distributed to relevant governmental organizations, UN agencies, INGOs and CSOs.

Objectives:

  1. To present the findings of the Legislative Review on GBV to the Government organizations, UN agencies, INGOs and CSOs and research organizations.
  2. To provide an opportunity for Lao stakeholders to present and discuss the recommendations of the Legislative Review and strategies to move forward towards a comprehensive anti-GBV legislation in Lao PDR

Expected Outcome:

  1. Increased understanding of Lao stakeholders on the CEDAW perspective for anti-GBV laws

Outputs:

  • Identified existing gaps in Lao laws and areas for improvement for compliance with international human rights norms and standards
  • Proposed recommendations and next actions towards for a comprehensive anti-GBV legislation
  • A dialogue with the Steering Committee (SC) on the proposed recommendations and next steps
  • (A framework of action plan for the GBV law drafting, roles and responsibilities among key governmental organization identified by the Steering Committee)
