In India, in the last few decades, there have been extensive investments towards addressing gender-based violence, especially in strengthening support services through coordinated response mechanisms like One Stop Centres (OSC). The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown phases, there was a significant increase in reported incidents of GBV against women and children. It also emerged as a need to further strengthen the capacities of first-hand responders, especially functionaries from One Stop Centres.

UN Women in partnership with the International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC) developed a comprehensive resource providing district-wise details of services available throughout the state. It is primarily aimed at aiding survivors and their families in seeking essential support. It also serves as a valuable reference for multiple stakeholders, including government departments, social welfare agencies, law enforcement, one-stop centres, protection officers, and civil society organizations. Through enhanced coordination among these units, this directory plays a vital role in improving the delivery of services to survivors, making support more accessible and effective.
