At UN Women Nepal, we envision a world where gender equality is the norm, empowering women and girls to lead the change they aspire to see. Achieving this vision requires strong partnerships with governments, civil society, women’s organizations, businesses, foundations, and committed individuals.

For over a decade, these vital collaborations have bolstered our work in Nepal.

Government of Nepal

We collaborate closely with the Government of Nepal, beginning with our partnership with the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, to deliver on our common goals laid out in our MoU (2023-2027). Our work spans across various ministries, from Federal Affairs and General Administration to Home Affairs and includes collaborations with constitutional bodies like the National Planning Commission, the National Women Commission, and the National Human Rights Commission.

Civil Society Organizations

Our grassroots to national-level partnerships with diverse, women-led civil society organizations are central to our mission and commitment to leave no one behind. We work with diverse civil society organizations and women networks who play a vital role in improving the situation of marginalized and excluded groups, advancing women’s rights and building a strong feminist movement in Nepal.

UN Agencies

UN Women Nepal leads the UN’s efforts to advance gender equality, co-chairing key interagency working groups such as the United Nations Country Team (UNCT), Leave No One Behind GESI Working Group as well as the working group on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). We partner with UN agencies through joint advocacy and programming. Through joint programmes, we are currently working with UNDP, ILO, UNFPA, UNICEF, IFAD, WFP, FAO and WHO to drive transformative change across the country.

International Development Partners

In addition to core resources, our mission is supported by generous contributions from governments including the Finland (with direct support to our strategic note), the European Union, Australia, Korea, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Sweden and Norway (through the Multi-Partner Trust Fund).

Private Sector

We promote women’s leadership and economic empowerment through collaborations with networks like the Federation of Women Enterprises in Nepal (FWEAN) and the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). Additionally, we work with Global Compact to promote and implement the Women’s Empowerment Principles.
