The European Union supports innovative awards held under the WeEmpowerAsia Programme, which spotlights companies upholding gender equality in the workplace, marketplace and community.

The past year has seen an encouraging rise in companies that promote gender equality in the workplace, with over 1,500 organizations in the region adopting the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). Despite the limiting effects of the pandemic, a growing number of firms now have women in leadership positions, giving them greater representation in boardrooms and a louder voice in critical business decisions.

This year, UN Women is recognizing a fresh batch of private companies standing out as models in nurturing a gender-inclusive environment in the workplace, marketplace and community. National WEPs Awards winners from the seven WeEmpowerAsia implementing countries will join applicants from other countries in the Asia-Pacific region to compete for recognition in the culminating Regional WEPs Awards.

The Regional Ceremony of the 2021 UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards will be held on November 18, 2021, 14:00-16:00 (GMT+7). The WEPs Awards is an annual event organized by WeEmpowerAsia, a programme funded by and in partnership with the European Union, which aims to foster gender inclusivity in business and promote economic empowerment of women across the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Join us at the 2021 UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards where business leaders and advocates of women empowerment will share stories on why aligning with the WEPs makes good business sense.
