Zero Tolerance for Violence Against Women and Girls
On 29 November 2020 - International Women Human Rights Defender’s Day, survivors of gender-based violence shared their experiences at the grounds of Tarango. It is the shelter home and safe space for women and girls located in Mirpur of Dhaka. The event allowed scope for dialogue with the community on the many issues faced by women and girls incessantly. The Ward Counselor of Mirpur-10, Principal of local school and respected Imam of local mosque were present. They spoke to the community people to urge for their support in GBV prevention and response, keeping in mind the increase of GBV due to the pandemic and an earnest shortage of response mechanisms to address them.
