The State of Gender Equality and Climate Change in Viet Nam

Image

Now that Viet Nam’s climate pathway to 2030 is set, among the key challenges raised by policy makers are the missing links between gender and climate change priorities and the lack of data and evidence connecting specific climate-sensitive sectors with gender equality. These gaps prevent policies from adequately addressing gendered vulnerabilities that could shape sustainable solutions and yield multiple socio-economic benefits that would help fulfil the ambition of the 2030 Agenda. Thus, the State of Gender Equality and Climate Change in Viet Nam aims to pinpoint the areas of progress as well as those of concern. It hopes to significantly contribute to advancing Viet Nam’s progress in achieving its climate goals in the key adaptation and mitigation sectors identified by the government as priority areas. This includes the agriculture, water management, waste management and renewable energy sectors. This assessment report was prepared through a partnership between ISPONRE, UNEP, and UN Women.
