Infographic: UN Women’s Response to Herat Earthquake

In October 2023, a magnitude-6.3 earthquake hit Herat province in Western Afghanistan, causing significant destruction and loss of life. Women and girls were particularly affected. In response, UN Women and its partners provided relief to ensure women and girls had access to essential services, including targeted interventions such as providing menstrual hygiene products and promoting women's participation in decision-making processes.
