Advancing Women’s Meaningful Participation in Peace and Security: Evidence and Ideas for Practice in Myanmar

This brief, Advancing Women’s Meaningful Participation in Peace and Security: Evidence and Ideas for Practice in Myanmar, outlines key elements of the global Women, Peace and Security (WPS) policy framework. It has a particular focus on women’s meaningful participation, which is one of the four pillars of the WPS framework.

The brief was developed in response to feedback from women-led civil society and women’s rights organizations about topics they would like to increase their knowledge on.

This brief offers Myanmar and global examples to guide practitioners and policymakers in designing and implementing projects for women's meaningful participation. It emphasizes three critical dimensions: (1) getting women to the negotiating table; (2) unlocking women’s influence at the negotiating table; and (3) bringing in women’s concerns that remain outside the process.
