MOVING FROM RISK TO RESILIENCE

The Policy Brief draws from GEDSI Analysis conducted in Lumbini, Sudurpashchim and Karnali Provinces to identify opportunities for municipal governments and development partners to strengthen disaster risk reduction efforts and urban resilience by more comprehensively meeting the needs of women and excluded groups. It analyses the impact of existing social structures, gender discrimination and inequalities on DRRM infrastructure, systems, and policy development. The GEDSI analysis was conducted by UN Women Partner HURDEC Pvt. Ltd. with technical support from UN Women Nepal and financial support from the European Union Humanitarian Aid, and inputs and collaboration from UNDP and UNICEF as part of the Strengthening Urban Preparedness, Earthquake Preparedness and Response in Western Regions of Nepal (SUPER) project.
