Rapid Gender Analysis of Cyclone Remal (Updated)

In the aftermath of Cyclone Remal in May 2024, recovery efforts in Satkhira and Khulna have been severely affected by ongoing political and civil unrest. Chaired by the Department of Women's Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh and co-chaired by UN Women, the GiHA Working Group in Bangladesh has updated the rapid gender analysis initially developed in June. Immediate and long-term recommendations from the RGA include targeted financial support for housing and livelihoods, improved health and WASH facilities, enhanced security measures, and increased support for women’s leadership and participation in disaster recovery efforts.
