Women, Peace and Security – 20 @ 2020
This event will celebrate the momentous achievements in the region on WPS and look forward to the next twenty years of implementation of the Agenda in the Asia Pacific. The event will highlight key learnings on WPS advocacy, policy, and diplomacy over the past two decades, based on research related to the implementation of the WPS Agenda in the Asia Pacific. It will draw on country case examples for each of the four pillars from conflict, peace and transition processes, and situations of disaster, displacement, and humanitarian emergency. The discussion will invite the audience to consider how WPS lessons learned across the four pillars can be applied to addressing the gendered impacts of COVID-19, including inclusive health security, socio-economic impacts, gender-based violence - the ‘shadow pandemic’, and combatting of the pandemic from a WPS perspective.
