#SecondChanceIndia Profiles : Sarita Mehra, Rajasthan
In 2018, UN Women initiated the development of a Second Chance Education and Vocational Learning (SCE) programme that would provide marginalized women who have lost out on an education with pathways to employment through a tailored learn-to-earn as well as a learn to learn approach. Despite the increasing investments in access to quality education and specifically girls’ education, we have a long way to go.Sarita Mehra, is a two- part wonder! After having to drop out of her education, the first time around, Sarita saw the Second Chance Education and Vocational Training Programme as an opportunity to transform her life. Sarita is a learner with the education programme, as well as a trainee in the beauty school programme. She hopes to contribute equally to her home and build a better life for herself and her family.
