UN Women’s Sounds of Freedom Concert held on March 3rd had live performances by Goodwill Ambassador Farhan Akhtar and other popular artists, all of whom highlighted messages around gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event was organized as part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day 2015.

The artists called on the audience to support the HeForShe movement by signing the online pledge available at www.heforshe.org

The line-up of the concert included The Raghu Dixit Project, MadBoy/Mink, Tritha Electric, The Kutle Khan Project, and the women folk group Dindigul Sakthi Drummers.

UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Sania Mirza also supported the Sounds of Freedom Concert and addressed the young audiences, urging them, especially boys and men, to stand up for women, speak out against gender discrimination and violence against women, as well as to support the HeForShe Campaign.
