WeEmpowerAsia Thailand WEPs Signing Ceremony ‘Principles into Practice’

Date:

[BY INVITATION ONLY]

WHAT: The ‘Principles into Practice’ event brings together representatives of Thailand’s private sector companies for a signing ceremony of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).

Up to 100 chief executives are expected to sign the CEO Statement of Support as they commit to the seven WEPs Principles and intensify their efforts to bring more women in at all levels, including giving women senior corporate posts and treating all workers fairly. The objective is to deepen, broaden and strengthen our private sector engagement to help shift behaviours for gender-responsive business conduct – and businesses play a vital role towards achieving this.

Timed with the 10th anniversary of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) celebrated this year, the occasion will also see businesses share real-life practices on how companies can tailor existing policies to realize women’s economic empowerment at a panel discussion. To date, more than 3,300 businesses worldwide are signatories to the WEPs, of which 11 are from Thailand (see full list here).

This event is hosted by WeEmpowerAsia, a UN Women programme funded by and in partnership with the European Union that seeks to increase the number of women who lead and participate in business in seven countries of Asia, including Thailand. For more information, visit http://weempowerasia.org.
