UN Women call for women, peace and security social media reporters in Asia and the Pacific
Date:
Are you a young social media influencer from Asia or the Pacific interested in raising awareness of new challenges for the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda from a youth perspective?
If so, UN Women invites you to express interest in participating in the upcoming Gen-Forum 2024: Young Leaders for Women, Peace and Security as a social media reporter.
The forum – taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 21-23 May 2024 – will bring together a rising generation of WPS advocates from across Asia and the Pacific to examine regional peace and security challenges, including new and emerging security issues.
A social media reporting team will be based at the forum venue in Bangkok where it will follow the discussions and gather photos and footage throughout the three-day event. Using their own social media accounts and networks, the task of each reporter will be to cover the deliberations at the forum – and raise the voices of all youth participants – in the language/s of their choice.
This is an opportunity to participate in the forum as an observer, with each reporter’s overseas travel and accommodation for the forum to be covered by UN Women, as well as meals and basic expenses while in Bangkok.
UN Women is organizing the forum under the Regional Framework Towards Peaceful, Inclusive Societies in partnership with the Government of Australia.
The main aim of the social media reporting team is to strengthen youth leadership in promoting the WPS agenda in Asia and the Pacific, including in the digital world.
The reporter participants will be required to follow UN Women communications guidelines and will be briefed prior to the forum.
Please see the eligibility criteria on the forum event page which, for example, include a requirement that these participants be a citizen of a country in Asia or the Pacific Islands, aged between 20 and 35, with demonstrated agility using social media and an active interest in the WPS agenda, including related issues such as digital security and climate security.
Please submit your expression of interest using the form provided on our event page by midnight Bangkok time on Friday 26 April 2024.
