Two years after its launch, 30 for 2030 now has 30 new members!

What will the new recruits add to the network?

The new recruits, ages 16 – 32 bring more diversity, inclusivity, and direction to the current cohort, currently representing 23 countries in our region. The new cohort brings a range of perspectives and talents; from an Australian artist and artist to an eager Nepali electrical engineer, to storytellers, to climate change activists, this is just a snippet of the diversity.

Who are the 30 for 2030 Network?

UN Women ROAP launched the 30 for 2030 Network in July 2022 as a youth leadership network that brings together young decision-makers, eminent civic and business innovators, feminists, entrepreneurs, technology pioneers, educators, activists, artists, and more. The 30 for 2030 thought leaders and experts are change makers determined to accelerate progress toward the 2030 Agenda from a feminist perspective, break down gender barriers and make gender equality a working reality in their spheres of influence. The network acts as a voluntary advisory community and an accelerator of exceptional people with the vision, courage, and influence to drive positive change for a gender-equal world. The cohort now consists of 80 members representing the Asia-Pacific region!

What have 30 for 2030 done so far?

The first of its kind, the 30 for 2030 Network youth-leadership cohort has collaborated on many more campaigns this past year, from the cross-country learning in the Republic of Korea which gathered some members in the same room, the launch of the second edition of the Youth Guide to End Online Gender-Based Violence, representation at COP28, collaboration on creating resources for Sports for Generation Equality, and nominations to BBC 100 Women (Louise Mabulo) and representation on Forbes 30 under 30 Asia List (Zahra Al Hilaly). We are proud to see our youth members making actionable steps towards positive change!

UN Women have provided further capacity-building sessions for the cohort within key thematic areas aligning with UN Women’s agenda and the action coalitions. The cohort has been invited to sessions with UN Women’s senior leadership team, campaign design and advocacy workshops, and many more. A few members in the new cohort have hit the ground running and have committed to helping strategize for climate change with our regional teams in Asia-Pacific! The new group also brings renowned pressure to combat the issues our youth face today. This upcoming year, the cohort plans to focus on innovation, technology, online gender-based violence, climate change, sports, and acceleration of GEF commitments in our region. Stay tuned to see what our young leaders have to offer!

Recruitment is open throughout the year to ensure inclusivity if you know someone who would be a good fit or would like to nominate yourself.
