Young Leaders and UN Women launch AI tool for Beijing+30 Review
Date:
In 2025 the global community will commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The sixty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will focus on reviewing and appraising the progress made in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
UN Women Asia and the Pacific Regional Office has introduced an innovative digital assistant, CSW GPT, to empower stakeholders in the Beijing+30 Review process and the CSW69. The launch coincided with the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Beijing+30, underscoring a commitment to using technology for inclusive and transformative participation in global gender policy processes.
Developed in partnership with the UN Women AI School, the CSW GPT is the result of efforts by a team of young leaders from the 30 for 2030 Youth Leadership Network, a platform that fosters innovation and advocacy for gender equality. This tool aims to enhance access to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action while equipping government representatives, non-governmental organizations, and young feminists with resources to effectively engage with CSW processes.
“The launch of CSW GPT showcases the incredible importance of youth innovation in advancing gender equality,” said Christine Arab, UN Women Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. “Through partnership with youth organizations and leveraging technology, we are making global processes like the Beijing+30 Review more accessible and impactful, and we are hoping to foster greater ownership by the next generation of change-makers."
The CSW GPT offers:
- Comprehensive guidance on the CSW processes and Beijing+30 review
- Advocacy support and tailored resources for civil society organizations and youth-led campaigns
- National and regional reviews to assist member states in drafting national Review reports
- United Nations language expertise enabling stakeholders to effectively navigate policy discussions
“The digital tool consolidates expansive information on the CSW and helps diverse stakeholders extract insights relevant to their interests and initiatives. The tool aims to bridge the information gap and help activists and advocates learn about CSW and design customized engagement and advocacy actions,” said Sanjana Chhantyal, a researcher and data analyst and member of the 30 for 2030 Network.
This effort was driven by the 30 for 2030 young leaders Sanjana Chhantyal, Akhil Neelam, Gauri Agarwal, and Mahima Bhagat, under the mentorship of Emad Karim, UN Women’s Advocacy, Campaigns & Innovation Coordinator.
The development of CSW GPT underscores the importance of youth participation in shaping global initiatives. The 30 for 2030 Network’s commitment to advancing gender equality through technology is a cornerstone of this project.
