"Gender responsive policies to safeguard women’s economic empowerment" speech by Gitanjali Singh, Country Representative, UN Women Bangladesh

Women's Empowerment for Inclusive Growth (WING), a joint project of the UN Women, UNDP, and UNCDF organised a workshop titled “Women's Economic Empowerment and Gender Responsive Policies in Bangladesh” on 22 August in Dhaka. The aim was to advocate for revisiting the current gender-responsive policies and practices for creating an enabling environment for women entrepreneurs in the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs). Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun attended the workshop as the chief guest along with Netherland’s Ambassador His Excellency Anne Van Leeuwen, UNDP’s Acting Resident Representative, Van Nguyen and the program participants. UN Women’s Country Representative Gitanjali Singh was present at the workshop as a special guest and delivered her remarks.
