Date:
The Art for Impact: Beijing+30 Digital Art Competition, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission (ESCAP) and the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, invited artists to explore themes related to gender equality through digital art.
Following the competition, UN Women and ESCAP curated an exhibition showcasing 30 exceptional pieces selected from the submissions. This Art for Impact: Beijing+30 Digital Art Exhibition was presented during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review in Bangkok from November 19–21, 2024.
The exhibition featured powerful and thought-provoking digital artworks from across the Asia-Pacific region. Inspired by the twelve areas of concern of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, each piece reflected the artists' unique vision to raise awareness and inspire action on gender equality.
The exhibition also recognized three winners: Xiaoyu Xiong (China), Angel Kimia Gulistani (Afghanistan), and Seyedeh Fatemeh Mirbemani Yazdi (Iran), whose artworks stood out for their creativity and impact. Learn more about the winners here.
Addressing issues such as poverty, violence against women, and the promotion of women’s empowerment and education, the the 30 showcased artworks highlighted both the challenges and triumphs faced by women and girls. Through their creative expressions, the artists invited audiences to confront difficult realities, celebrate resilience, and envision a more just and equitable future.
