Women Economic Empowerment and Home Based Workers

UN Women Pakistan along with other key UN agencies such as the International Labour Organisation supports the Government of Pakistan and other key state actions such as the Ministry of Labour and civil society organisations in ensuring that the rights of HBWs are protected in the country. HBW resolutions have passed in the Punjab and Balochistan Assembly (in 2009), and in Sindh (in 2010) asserting the demand for the protection of HBWs rights by recognizing them as workers and standardizing their minimum wages.

Since 2007 UN Women provides support to HomeNet Pakistan in its advocacy related initiatives.
