This policy brief is intended to serve as a knowledge resource for UN Women, the Government of Nepal, international development partners, civil society, and the private sector to accelerate the financial inclusion of women in Nepal. The policy brief reviews the cultural, structural, and institutional limitations and challenges that women in Nepal, and conflict-affected women in particular face in accessing financial services and produces a set of recommendations to address the gender gap in financial inclusion in Nepal. This policy brief draws from the key findings of a feasibility study on “Financial Inclusion of Conflict Affected Single Women in Sudurpaschim Province” commissioned by UN Women Nepal in 2021.
