Summary report of countrywide women’s consultations [April 2024]
This report presents women's perspectives on their current situation and priorities across Afghanistan. Since its military takeover in August 2021, the Taliban (referred to herein since that date as the de facto authorities (DFA)) has issued a series of decrees that have systematically removed women from public life and decision-making positions in almost all sectors and banned them from pursuing secondary and higher level education. The resulting impact on the mental and physical health of women in Afghanistan, and the fabric of Afghan society at large, is unprecedented.
